Computer Infected Popup Message Annoyed!
Here is a recent question I got:
"Hi,
I recently installed an antispyware program and now I continue getting the message "Your computer is infected" popping up on my taskbar. Can you please help me figure out how to stop the message from appearing? When I click on it, it just says it encountered an illegal operation and I have to hit close. I have uninstalled the program, but this message continues to pop up. Very annoying....please help.
Thank you"
First let me mention the possible reasons (because there are more than one) why you keep receiving that same message over and over.
1) You installed a fake ant adware or spyware software. Or an antivirus software...
2) You have been infected with some adware, spyware or virus.
So if it is reason number one the first thing you do is uninstall the fake software (which you already did).
Here is how to uninstall the fake software:
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs.
Then find the name of the fake software.
Then click on Remove/Uninstall.
If you do not know the name of the software you need advanced technical support. Fill in the NoAdware contact us form and they will assist you better.
(They will ask you to take screen shots of the errors you get and so forth - and show you how to do it, including providing tools you may require).
The following steps you should do regardless if you KNOW the name of the fake software or Not!
Do the following steps as well in any case.
Second thing I suggest is doing a scan with an antivirus software like the free one from http://www.avast.com (recommended)
Third do a scan with NoAdware software. Free trial from:
http://www.deletespyware-adware.com/Downloads/Freedownload.html
(If NoAdware finds any problems you have to get a license key by buying the full version to remove the problems).
Then I suggest you download a registry cleaner software from:
http://www.ccleaner.com a free software. (recommended). Do a scan with it.
Any software that asks you if you want to make backup of the registry before it fixes the problems - choose YES, so the software makes a backup.
Note: If you already have a registry cleaner, an anti virus or an anti adware and spyware software uninstall them before downloading the recommended ones. Important!
If you paid already for a popular anti virus software, then obviously do not download the recommended one, just use the one you have...
...but if it is a free software you have, uninstall it and download the ones I recommended.
So use those tools and then restart your computer. Then see if problem persists.
I bet you did not have any protection, like anti adware and spyware software (with real time protection feature).
Plus an anti virus with (real time protection feature). If you HAD those tools, and the ones I recommend probably they would have blocked the fake software BEFORE it had any chance to infect your computer.
You see, most free software (apart from Avast anti virus) do not offer Real Time Protection. They do not protect your computer while you are connected to the Internet.
...They can only SCAN after your computer is infected, means when they find any infections...
Real time protection will protect your computer and make sures you DO NOT get ANY infections in the first place. That's ten times better than software without real time protection feature.
Remember the ones I recommended above all have real time protection. Not the registry cleaner software. Registry cleaners are not software that protect you from any infections. I created a blog posts about registry cleaners on my blog you should read to understand more about these software.
