Something Good About Vista
I just bought a new pc with Microsoft Vista as the operating system (os) instead of windows xp.
It was hard to find something good to say about vista, but it's been over a year now since it's release.
I have only good things to say about vista. First of all all programs I installed work, and perfectly. The look and feel of vista is awesome, even though I switched to windows classic theme. The fancy colors is not something I like... Anyway here is one GREAT thing - I am sure people who are new to computers will find this awesome.
Say you just installed a program called StickyNotes. Some people have no clue how to open this software or where it is located on their computer. With Vista, you just click Start and there is a search box. Type in StickyNotes or even just Sticky and then Vista automatically finds the program. You click on it and it opens.
Very fast, effecient and easy to open up programs you have on your computer. So that also avoids the need to create a ton of shortcuts on your desktop. In fact there is no need for any shortcuts.
With two clicks you can open any program on your computer.
Another example: To open up Internet Explorer. Click Start, in search box enter Internet Explorer and Vista shows in search results Internet Explorer. Click on search result and Internet Explorer opens up.
Very cool.
The Vista Firewall is also much better than the XP firewall. In fact if you have windows xp firewall turned on, you still require a third party firewall. But if you have Vista firewall turned on, there is no need for a third party firewall. Vista firewall also have advanced features, even though you do not really need to mess around with them if you do not know how.
Vista also comes bundled with some unqiue software like StickyNotes.
You can add gadgets to the sidebar on your desktop. Gadgets like a clock, a calendar, weather display, currency conversion tool and lots more... These are just tweaks.
I am sure Vista will be the next generation of operating systems. It was in beta testing before, that's why it did not receive too many of good reviews. But already many computer stores only sell computers with vista as their operating system.
