Spyware detected popup in task bar?

FAQ means Frequently Asked Questions not F** All Queens!

I have win XP OS in my laptop. Every time i connect to internet i get a pop up from my task bar that says "Active spyware detected clock here to remove" when i click a broken page appears.

Also i have installed a spyware cleaner software and removed everything i still keep getting the alert.

Also i used the yahoo toolbar anti spyware and removed the removed the spyware that was detected.

What is happening ?? What is my XP detecting that anti spyware is not able to detect??

Answer

You probably have spyware.

Keep your own Anti-virus up to date, and check the status regularly.

Get and update several Anti-spyware solutions such as Noadware

Download and install FireFox free from http://www.mozilla.com This is a browser that is safer to use than IE. Use this for general surfing and google searching. Only use IE when you MUST have IE, such as Windows Updates.

If you have Windows XP with SP2, activate the Windows firewall and check the status.

Yahoo toolbar spyware?

i have enjoyed the yahoo toolbar and its antispyware for the last couple fo years. this new version with the norton spyware will not work on my computer now. i have windows me. i can download the toolbar but after it is done, it does not have the spyware button on the toolbar.

i have tried both of the options on the other norton button, but that does not give me the spyware button. i do not want to sign up for some one month free trial of anything. i want my good old yahoo spyware back. anybody know what the problem is? thanks.

Answer

First of all learn how to write I instead of i :) cause it is irritating.

Click the pencil icon beside the search box on Yahoo! Toolbar, a menu will drop down, click Uninstall and uninstall the new version, then click one of the links below to download Yahoo! Toolbar with Anti-Spy.

It will be downloaded to your desktop, then click on it and install it, and don't click the update button again, if you do it will be updated again, and you will lose Anti-Spy.

You can also do a system restore if you had the version with Anti-Spy as upgraded. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > click System Restore and restore back to a point that it worked. The only problem is you will lose any downloads or changes you made after that restore point.
