But in Each and Every case you can rely on the FOUR signs to look for to catch spam. These where mentioned in my previous post!

To People Who Want To Use Email But Cannot Stop Spam, Scams and Phishing!

Here's the spam message I received.

Subject: UPS Delivery Problem NR 53312.

Message Body:
Hello!

Unfortunately we were not able to deliver the package which was sent on the 17th of December in time because the addressee's address is incorrect.

Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our department.

United Parcel Service of America.

That's the spam message I received.

I was expecting a delivery of a book from the US so this email struck me more than someone else who had not bought anything. If I wasn't waiting for a book that I bought than I would have instantly knew that this was spam. But this was an important book that I was waiting for.

So that's the first reason why I thought this could be a genuine message.

Why I am certain this is spam?

The first sign is because it's not personal. It does not mention my name or the physical address they tried to ship to - it also does not mention their company name or the product purchased. Nothing!

That's because it's spam, and spam messages are sent to thousands or millions of people. In fact as a confirmation that this is 100% spam I checked my other email accounts since I have multiple email addresses and I received this exact email just slightly different everywhere. Even to my email accounts that I never used to purchase online.

The only attachment this email had was something that thanks to Gmail (the email client I use) was blocked. As you can see from screenshot here:

That's another reason why I suggest you use Gmail, because it blocks content that look suspicious. So this spam probably had a virus inside one of the links attached to the bottom of the email. If I had opened the attachment then I would have infected my computer with a virus.

So in cases like that NEVER click View or Download links. Never try to download attachments. You may want to click on Open As Google document.

That's what I did and there was nothing, Google said:

We're sorry, but Google Docs has encountered an unexpected error.

So that all confirms that this is spam - otherwise a serious company that is trying to ship me my product won't attach a document that does not work.

So hope this long and boring email, I know I sometimes create a bit long posts - served a purpose to help you stay more protected against spam by learning how to recognize them - by knowing the spammers dirty secrets.

Google Sidebar Review

Google Sidebar Review

Google Sidebar requires Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP but there's also a version for Linux and Mac computers.

To download visit: http://desktop.google.com

There are plenty of information on that site to show the features and so on. My review is that I like it. I already had the Vista Sidebar which is very similar to Google Sidebar.

Both have a Clock you know and both Sidebars allow you to add Gadgets. Gadgets are like extras. For example you can add an RSS Reader to your Sidebar, the Google Rss Reader which allows you to read RSS directly from your Desktop or some other RSS Reader, just right click on Sidebar and select Add Gagdets and you can search for many different Gadgets.

The same is true for Vista Sidebar, you can search for Gadgets.

(I did found out that the text in the Google Gadget called RSS reader is tiny and unreadable but still with a click you can go and read them online - so I like that Gadget a lot)

Google Sidebar is way cooler than Vista Sidebar, the clock is very cool and the Sidebar is kind of transparent - it does not bother me like Vista does sometimes.

I also have a tiny search box, exactly as I like it on the Google Sidebar, which allows me to search the Web Directly from the Desktop - or search the computer itself for files quickly. This is Google Desktop another Google product which is also FREE, and I was able to move this to the Sidebar.

This is how my desktop looks with the Google Sidebar, here's a screenshot. Note that if I click on the Sidebar a very thin border appears - which dissapears if I don't click on Sidebar - that is cool so the Sidebar those not bother you at all bascially.

The desktop has nothing on it because I have hidden everything by right clicking on Desktop then click View > Then click Hide Desktop Icons.

Click image to see it bigger

The Google Sidebar can be customized to suit your needs - there are Gadgets to help you if you work on your computer such as: To Do List, Quick Launch (that shows a list of recent files you opened) and much more.

If you just want to check Google Sidebar out to see if you can find something cool than it's worth a look too. I suggest you check out the Gadgets you can put on your Sidebar before you download it so you can have a feel of what you can put on it from this link: http://desktop.google.com/plugins

That's it, you can see from screenshot I have three Gadgets:
Clock
Rss Reader
Google Search Box

There are many options and features - a lot more than what I mentioned, you just need the will to investigate them to maybe find something interesting that suits your needs and your likes.

Thanks

Google Sidebar Review

The Newsletter You Need To Subscribe To >>

This is an important note from me... I've checked out lots of different online security newsletters - the one at Microsoft which I receive every month is the BEST one.

I highly recommend you subscribe to Microsoft Newsletter, it's FREE and you can subscribe at:

http://www.microsoft.com/protect/resources/newsletter.aspx

On that page you can also see a past issue.

Trust me, they provide really good tips about security online, related to spyware, viruses, spam and lots more that you should be aware of. Including protecting against fraud, and tutorials like how to buy online safely, how to identify scams... They use pictures and it's fun not boring.

I think I have been a subscriber for more than a year now and each issue (I just got December issue right now) is well packed with great content. I felt I should recommend it to anyone on the Internet.

Happy Xmas

Fake Antivirus Software Scam

Fake Antivirus Software Scam

I received a question from a customer. This post will show you the steps I revealed to him - so he can remove this fake software, pretending to be an anti virus or a security software.

"I've used your software before and it worked great. Now I'm attacked by a spyware program acting as a security suite called "security tool". Will your software remove it? Thanks in advance"

Jim

Here was my reply:

Hi Jim,

Do the following to remove this fake software.

1) Uninstall it by going to Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs. Find the software from the list and click Remove button if you can see it in the list.

2) Scan with NoAdware™, I suggest before scanning click on Options >> Scan Settings then check Full System Scan. Check also the other two options:

Include Subfolders in Files/Folders scan

Include zip files in scan

3) Scan also with an antivirus after you finish scanning with NoAdware™. We recommend Avast antivirus, it's free:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Note: Before scanning with NoAdware™ or Avast always update the software, so you have the latest database of spyware and virus protection.

Two Optional steps after doing the above if they don't fix the problem.

1) Download a registry cleaner software, we recommend CCleaner, it's free. From: http://www.ccleaner.com

Open this software, and use all it's options. Click on Windows Tab then click Analyze, then click Run Cleaner. Click on Applications Tab and do the same.

Click on Registry and then click on Scan for issues. Then click Fix Selected Issues. It will ask you do you want to backup your registry make sure you select yes.

Click on Tools, click on Uninstall. If you find this fake software name in the list click on it and click Run Uninstaller button. If it cannot be uninstalled click on Delete Entry.

Click on Startup and if you see this fake software name click on it, then click Disable - then click Delete.

2) If you know the name of this fake software try to find it on your computer. You can do this manually or by using the search command. Start > Search for files...

Usually installed software are located in C:/program files Click Start > Run and type C:/program files and see if you can find this fake software in there. If you do find it delete the folder. I don't suggest you open folder and use their uninstall feature because it may be fake too and contain spyware.

Do the steps above. Should help a lot to find and remove this fake software

Thanks

Fake Antivirus Software Scam

Example Of Spam Emails Spoofing Company

Example Of Spam Emails Spoofing Company

I laughed a bit when I took a very quick look at my Spam folder in Gmail today... I instantly recognized some emails to be spam.

Just like I say in the book (FREE download from right side of this blog) there's a type of spam where the email is like it's coming from someone popular (ex: Facebook) when in reality it's coming from a spammer.

Below is real example of these type of spam and how you should instantly within seconds realize it's spam not real. This is useful to know in case the email does not get filtered to your spam/junk folder.

--Start of email example one--

From: "Facebook" <update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
Subject: New login system

Dear Facebook user,

In an effort to make your online experience safer and more enjoyable, Facebook will be implementing a new login system that will affect all Facebook users. These changes will offer new features and increased account security.

Before you are able to use the new login system, you will be required to update your account.

Please click on the link below to update your account online now:

http://www.facebook.com.home1</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>qo.eu/globaldirectory/LoginFaceb</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>ook.php?ref=71029194817434760</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>9789288260054351233120184687</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>65&email=info@outranksmart.com

If you have any questions, reference our New User Guide.

Thanks,
The Facebook Team

--End of email example one--

How do you know it's spam within seconds of looking at this email?

Simple: Facebook or any other popular company, (or almost anyone that sends you a real email) will not tell you Dear Facebook User

They tell you Dear karlsultana7 or whatever your real facebook username is.</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
Now if you are using a good email client such as Gmail, the links will be automatically removed - so you cannot click on them. Even though that url has the words facebook.com it's not from facebook.com because URL is actually very long and has more characters after facebook.com - the real domain is: </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

http://www.facebook.com.home1qo.eu

Common Sense: The aim of spammers is to get you to click on the links that's why most spam of this type are short and sweet.

The email also looks fake because if it's true that facebook has implimented a new login system - then just go to facebook.com and try to login - that simple no need to click on such boring url's...<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com> </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>Ok, here's a second example of these type of spam, also know as spoofing attacks.

--Start of email example two-- </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>From: "MySpace" <message-jzq5uzxl-wsl3hf0ihh2g-a9123-nshyj-5yzt8y@message.myspace.com>
Subject: Your MySpace account</message-jzq5uzxl-wsl3hf0ihh2g-a9123-nshyj-5yzt8y@message.myspace.com> </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>Dear MySpace user!

Please be informed that you are required to update your MySpace account.

Please update your MySpace account by clicking here:

http://accounts.myspace.com.iiolik.org.uk/msp/index.php?fuseaction=update&code=</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>JZQ5UZXL-WSL3HF0IHH2G-A9123-NSHYJ-5YZT8Y&email=info@outranksmart.com

If you're unable to click on the link above, copy and paste it into your browser's address bar.

-------------------------

At MySpace we care about your privacy. The reason why we have to update our account is not even listed?? Is it for fun maybe??</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>DUH... Look at the url they're telling us to click on, it starts like this:</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
accounts.myspace.com.iiolik.org.uk

Is that myspace I mean the website myspace? That's more like this:
myspace.com

Or like this:

signups.myspace.com

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>So what are those </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>iiolik.org.uk ??? The myspace site is myspace.com AND not myspace.com.iiolik.org.uk

These type of let's call them silly urls are fake.

After the .COM part of any url there can only be a trailing slash / like for example myspace.com/help

Plus just like the facebook example they're telling us to visit url to do something - because the spammer goal is to get you to click on the links - that's how the virus infects your computer. These fake links (can be long or short) when you visit them you get the virus.

Hope you found this post useful.

Just a final thought. Gmail not only automatically placed these messages in my spam folder and made the links unclickable but also displayed a big red warning sign that I cannot ignore:

<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com> </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>
<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>Thanks</update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

Example Of Spam Emails Spoofing Company<update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com> </update+iritetmkqhyrqy@facebookmail.com>

Vista Software Removal Tool

Vista Software Removal Tool

This is not just for Vista, this tool is only required if you are trying to remove a software from your computer and cannot.

I still remember when I installed an antivirus software and then I just could not uninstall it - it stayed there on my PC boring me all the time.

First I'll mention the correct step by step procedure you need to follow when you want to uninstall a software. Second how to use a software you can download for FREE online if you have trouble removing some software.

FIRST

1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Uninistall/Remove Programs
2) Find the program from the list and click on Remove.

Most people stop there. But you should also go to the folder and delete it. This means if you're trying to delete MSN messenger, you should go to MSN folder and delete it after you uninstall messenger - so everything is cleaned.

MSN folder or any other folders are located in C:/program files so click Start > Run and type in C:/program files to see all folders and delete the appropriate one after you uninstall.

That word C:/program files my sound technical for you maybe - but it just means located in hard rive C in the folder named program files.

If it was C:/documents means hard drive C in the folder named documents.

The :/ is like a seperator like the space between words when you are typing. Sometimes you can also use ://

The Start>Run is a tool, called the Run tool - that will make it fast for you to open up folders by entering for example C://program files which are also known as commands.

SECOND

Some software cannot be uninstalled even though you follow the steps above - something is wrong. In that case download this free software from here: Download Uninstall Removal Software

Open the software after you download it and install it and you see something like this:

Find the program that cannot be uninstalled, select it by clicking once on the name and click on Remove. Please remember to find the exact program name - the removal is done in a second - so make sure you select the right program before you hit remove.

That's it.

The antivirus software from Symantec is one of those software many people report that they cannot uninstall. Now you know how :)

Remember to always try to uninstall the software first using the normal method, the FIRST method listed above.

Thanks

Vista Software Removal Tool

Satellite Tv For Pc 2007 Elite (Scam)

Hello,

I did buy this product and it does not matter what version you get, whether it's Elite, Titanuim or anything else - it's a scam and I explain.

First of all you can get your money back by going to Clickbank.com and go to Support section, then select Purchase Related Questions.

The fact is that the software you get after you buy this product are software you can get for FREE.

What they did is simple find all these FREE software from the Internet, and then when you purchase they give you a website which has links to download these software.

In fact software like the one called Sopcast when you open it for the first time after you download it, it will give you a message saying: This software is FREE if you paid for it ask for a refund.

So I will REVEAL in here what you get after your purchase, everything you'll get if you purchase you can find for FREE on the Internet... and now I will show you what you get too:

First you'll see this page:
http://www.sattube.com/links/link7

The real page you visit when you click on that link is this:
http://www.myp2p.eu

What they did there is simple hide the link, also known as mask, so you think you're on sattube.com website but in reality it's not.

You can search for http://www.myp2p.eu in Google to see that you can access it for FREE anytime.

On that page you practically have EVERYTHING. Probably most people already know what I shall say about Mozilla Firefox... but some don't that's why I want to clarify it. But for EVERYONE I will reveal too the SOLUTION to spyware, adware, viruses... what exactly you need to finally be get rid of them forever...

Let's first answer one question some people have about Mozilla Firefox.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer that's called a web browser. It's a tool that helps you visit websites. Without such tool you cannot browse the Internet. Sometimes we say surf the Internet... or research... or just "waste time" - ok sometimes I think that's true too.

Mozilla Firefox does NOT contain spyware or adware, etc... neither any other popular web browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer.

If you open up Mozilla Firefox and go to a website and your anti spyware software tells you there's a spyware or adware (it displays Spyware Blocked or something similar) - it means the website (could be any one which you visited) contains spyware or adware.

Probably you keep seeing these message and think that spyware is in Mozilla Firefox (especially true if you have just downloaded Mozilla Firefox for the first time).

So here's the truth: Websites contain adware, spyware, trojans, viruses or the other "bad objects". Plus these "bad objects" are invisible you cannot see them at all.

The solution for you is located in the following two articles that we just finished creating.

FIRST ONE: You need to know what software you computer needs to protect from these spyware, adware, viruses, etc... The same software we use. Read that here: SPECIAL Article What Everybody Ought To Know... About These Internet Security Software Including You.

SECOND ONE: This is quite optional - this article tells you which are the type of websites that are likely to have spyware, adware, viruses, etc. In generaly most people don't visit these type of websites - but I think it's still good to know this little known "secret".

Read that here: SPECIAL Article How To Get Rid Of Adware, Spyware, Trojans... Almost Immediately Even If... Everything Else You Have Tried Has Failed!

Go read those two articles - you'll discover and know more than 90% of the people on the Internet. Like us you'll never get spyware, adware, or viruses on your computer - and if you do (and that's rarely) you'll get rid of it in couple minutes to an hour maximum. It will RARELY happen like I said, if you follow the instructions on those two articles there.

There's really no SECRET to protect from adware, spyware, viruses... it's just a matter of knowing what to do and it's easier than you think.

By the way, leave your comments below :)

Thank You

Does Mozilla Contain Spyware

Where Can I Play Fifa Online

Where Can I Play Fifa Online

I know someone wants to know this answer... and there's my recent experience that should help. I played Fifa 2009 (a soccer game) online this summer 2009. Just for a quick break.

You need of course the game, Fifa 2009 there's also rumors that Fifa 2010 is in the making. You can get the game from stores or online from http://www.direct2drive.com

To play online, install the game, start it and then from options you just select Online Play, you'll also will be asked the first time you start the game to create an EA account. You have to be logged in to this account (you'll see login form in the game) to go online.

That's it. Also refer to the manual to allow your Firewall access to the game. There are important detail about multiplayer and Firewall otherwise you'll have a tough time to find a player to play against.

The common problems with online play that are also being asked in the EA forum very frequently I shall address here.

EA forum is here: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa-09-pc/

One commone problem is the Ready To Play button or link.

When you find an opponent then you have to click on that after selecting the team you want to play with. However most of the time you won't be able to click it because the server cannot connect to EA servers, (technical stuff).

To solve that you have to download one or two patches - these are just files you install on your PC. To get them contact EA support and tell them you want the latest patches of the game - and the patches about the Ready To Play link not working. They will perfectly understand you.

www.support.ea.com

If you want to play not just wait - do that, and download EA download manager when you are asked to do so (during game installation).

If you have problems with your gamepad if you prefer to use one instead of keyboard refer to EA forum(link above). There are several topics that cover the issue.

My experience with game is that you will have some fun, depending how much you will love the game or how much you love soccer games - it's up to you that. But you can experience some technical problems that you cannot do nothing about. Like the Disconnection Error message. This occurs when either your opponent disconnects intentionally (like he is loosing 5-0 and quits); it does happen... or the server gets disconnected.

Also selecting some teams for me it was Juve you can experience bugs. If Del Piero scores the connection gets lost for example. But you have to play and see, it might work well with Juve for you.

Fifa online play also uses Leaderboard and ranking system where you are awarded points for winning and your rankings increase - they have information how that works too.

Hope this was helpful. The thing I know for sure is it was quite a long post.

Where Can I Play Fifa Online

Setting Up A Home Network Printer

Setting Up A Home Network Printer

I know this is a lot of information to read and understand. Think of it as an investment and not a burden. I have tried to include what is necessary without writing a whole book about a 5 minute procedure.

Summary of steps to install a network printer.

1. Download the most recent driver from the manufacturer's website.
2. Configure network settings on the printer.
3. Use the Add Printer Wizard to create a local network printer on the pc.
4. (Optional) - share printer to other users.

If you are performing this type of installation for more than a handful of people, it is best to install this once on a Windows Server and share that printer to everyone. Normally it takes between 5 and 10 minutes to perform this type of install on each pc.

1. Download the most recent driver.

Visit the manufacturer's website to obtain the latest driver - print drivers can be found in the support area searching by model number.
( this is important because early problems are fixed and drivers are updated )

For color printers you want to download a PostScript driver.
Black and White - monochrome printers work fine with a PCL driver.
*Run-Unzip-Extract* to a known location on the computer -
c:temp -or- c:*printer model*

2. Configure network settings on the printer
If you are a small business or an at home office you probably have a tiny router that handles what is called DHCP ( this is a service that manages IP addresses ).

The bad thing about these little devices is when they lose power, IP addresses are re-assigned on a first come basis.

I suggest using a static IP for all installations. Log into your printers web interface using the DHCP assigned IP address and change it to a static IP high in the range.

If available, I use 192.168.1.201, since most routers start assigning IPs at 192.168.1.2

If you have IT people who control your network, they should be consulted before making any changes to IP settings.

3. Using the Add Printer wizard
Go to Printers in the Control Panel - there are different ways to get there - just find one

Click the Add a Printer link

Choose - Add a local printer

**Note** - I know you have a network printer and the second choice is network printer and it makes logical sense to choose that - but you have to trust me and not think for yourself on this one.

Choose to Create a new port - select Standard TCP/IP Port in the dropdown list

Fill in the information - IP address you chose to use

If it detects the device type - great - if it doesn't - click OK and Next anyway ( leave it generic or whatever it says )

Next is where we browse to the location you Extracted-unzipped the drivers ( this could also be to the CD you have ). Most of time when you download drivers they are in exe form or zipped and have to be Run and extracted before becoming available for use

Install the printer driver

Click Have Disk

Click Browse

Navigate to the location containing an INF file within the driver directory you created

Double-click the inf file or select it and click Open

Then click the OK button

Select your model and click Next

If it asks you to keep or replace the driver ( make a choice )

Then you will be asked to name the printer - On a server install it is best to make this a general term like - Office Color - or - Department BW.

Then you will be asked to Share the printer ( this is the Optional part for Server installs )

Just click Finish and the driver will be installed

4. Optional sharing the printer

Right-click the printer in Printers and Faxes and select Properties

click on the Sharing tab and choose to share and give it a share name

**Note**
The Network Printer option I told you to ignore earlier is for connecting to shared printers. The fast way to install a *shared* printer is to:

Click Start and select Run ( if you do not have a run just type the UNC name into an address bar )

Here is a link describing what UNC is http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/U/UNC.html

Type in the UNC name of the PC with the shared printer
Click OK

You will be presented with share folders and printers
Double-click the printer to install

-------------------------
Troubleshooting

1. Some printers need to have the port configured for a different RAW number or with LPR settings

The documentation or support site should cover what special settings are required.
Sometimes the default 9100 needs to be changed to another number, but usually it is an LPR port with a queue name of LPT1 - PORT1 - PS - AUTO - or lp, the LPR Byte Counting is sometimes necessary also.

You can configure these settings by going to the Properties of the printer
Select the Ports tab and click the Configure Port button.

2. The format of the IP address is important - do not use any leading zeroes that you may see on a config page or web screen

i.e. 192.168.001.201 should be programmed into the port as 192.168.1.201

3. IP addresses are important - normally on small networks 192.168.0. networks cannot print to 192.168.1 addresses - If your router changes its settings are has to be reconfigured, be sure to double check that you are an the same *Network ID* (first three sets of numbers), I have seen routers change back and forth between networks and different brands use different defaults.

4. Sometimes the ports on servers and workstations become corrupted and need to be deleted and recreated.

5. Sometimes you might have a *Network Security* application that blocks communication to a new printer - watch for popups when attempting your first print.

Final Thoughts

If you read all the way to here, you probably need more help.

Please visit the Do-it-yourself IT Answers blog for more articles of this type including helpful photos

<a href="http://diyitanswers.blogspot.com"rel="nofollow">http://diyitanswers.blogspot.com

Setting Up A Home Network Printer

Pc Keeps Restarting On Boot Up

Pc Keeps Restarting On Boot Up

Have you experienced problems such as turning on your PC, just moments before seeing the desktop, it restarts automatically? Problems such as this in which a computer experiences endless rebooting is usually caused by a computer virus. The signs are obvious. Your machine shuts down for no reason at all, without even touching any of the keys of your keyboard.

Though situations like this is commonly blamed to a computer virus which most likely has successfully invaded your computer hard drive, there are other reasons. In order to know the real problem, cover things one by one; create a checklist to figure out what's going on.

In order to determine the computer problems specifically and carefully, make a checklist like the one I enumerated below:

(a) Check the computer power supply

(b) Check the CPU for dust particles or dust cakes

(c) Check for viruses and worms through trusted virus scanning software

(d) Check the memory and other computer hardware stuff

Aside from computer viruses, bad power supply is the reason why some times your computer experiences rebooting that keeps on repeating. The common situation you would experience in having a bad computer supply is the shutting off of your PC once in a while; then, it seems okay for a couple of hours but in all of a sudden, your computer restarts over and over again. Check your power supply if it gives enough electricity to have your computer run efficiently. Another culprit of recurring computer restarting is the dust. When dust particles start to settle on your CPU, in which lots of them are caked underneath the CPU fan, your computer would experience unexpected rebooting. According to computer experts, this is the usual cause of problems especially to newer computers with 1 Ghz CPU and above. Computers this types run very hot so they need excellent ventilation. More flow of air encourages dusts to settle on your CPU, and to some corners inside it such as CPU fan. In order to fix the problem, you should do regular checking of your CPU at least once a year and clean the dust off. Computer hardware issues can also be other causes of experiencing this kind of problem. Perhaps, your PC has bad memory or bad video card that makes the running of your computer fail.

Try also booting your computer in Safe Mode. If the problem persists, the cause maybe the software installed in your computer. If not the software, then other reason for booting failure might be the newly installed drivers. To resolve the problem, try restoring the system if you are using Windows XP. Also, try Window registry cleaner. Perhaps, your window registry is too crowded because of some stored unnecessary files in the hard drive. Ask the assistance of computer experts such as those people you find in the nearest computer stores or computer equipment rental hubs. Computer experts are the doctors of sick computers. Figuring out the cause of a problem and solutions for that problem is easy for them. If you think you can't handle computer problems all by yourself, computer experts exist to help you.

Visit TR Vidcom, the leading <a href="http://www.trvidcom.com.au/index.htm"rel="nofollow">audio visual equipment rental hub based in Australia. The company offers specialised solutions and caters clients from commercial and government establishment across the Asia Pacific, recently working on its product and service availability to other countries of the world.

Pc Keeps Restarting On Boot Up

Lock Down Icons On A Desktop

Lock Down Icons On A Desktop

Hello, my name is Kaycee and I am an IT technician. I just want to share with you how to lock your desktop icons on your computer. There are different types of computer users out there, there are those of us that like arranging our desktop in a particular way (I think I fall in this group) and there are those that do not really care how their desktop icons are arranged. Therefore, this article is for those people who like having their desktop arranged in a particular way and even for those that do not care how their icons are arranged for knowledge reason. This article will help you lock your desktop icons into place so that nobody can disarrange your nice desktop arrangement. To do this, click on start then run and type regedit.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER then Software then Microsoft then Windows then CurrentVersion then Policies then Explorer. Right-click on an empty space in the right pane and select New, DWORD Value name NoSaveSettings and press the enter key. Right-click on the new NoSaveSettings item and select Modify. Enter 1 in the Value data box. You are done, whenever you restart windows now, your settings will return to their state and your won't have to worry about someone messing up your desktop settings.

A note of warning, the values in the registry editor are not to be changed at will if you don't know what you are doing. It is advisable for you to make a back up of the registry editor before altering values otherwise be sure before you tamper with them because windows can become severely unstable if wrong values are entered.

Kazeem Olasunkanmi Balogun is an IT technician with a rich hands on experience in the IT industry. In this era of rapid changes, our hard drive makes it possible to store millions of documents, videos, and songs on it. As a result of this, it becomes more and more difficult to find the information we need.

The hard drive has so much capacity and we end up downloading stuff that we don't really need without thinking much. As a result, a lot of copied content or useless information gets stored into the computer which slows down the system and makes it difficult to identify data. And the final mess is when we realize this data is adding to confusion and needs sorting out, that it is hardly possible to find and remove duplicate files manually.

But a special software or duplicate file remover is available in the market, which helps to delete duplicate files. This tool helps to find and remove unnecessary copies of your files, accurately. It also helps to find and remove mp3s and pictures. They can be sent to recycle bins or can also be moved to a separate folder.

Having loads of duplicated files, creates a big mess and clutter in the system which like mentioned earlier, makes it slow. Also these duplicate files take up a lot of unnecessary space. The only way to reclaim this space is with the help of duplicate file remover. This helpful software helps to clean up your computer, leaving you with the original files..

For people who have to keep a large collection of any type of digital media, be they photos or music, chances are that you'll end up with many copies of the same document or song. And unless you remove all the unnecessary copies, your hard drive will become full with things you don't really need. Duplicate file remover program helps to find and remove copies that are not required, and thus helps to create a neat and organized library of digital data.

Duplicate file remover program is useful tool that helps the hard drive clean up from duplicate files and create additional space on the drive. This software tool is the most reliable and efficient disc clean up utility to find and remove unwanted copies, on both - your local computer as well as computer network.

If you are able to successfully identify and delete duplicate documents with duplicate file remover, you can claim back lost hard disk space by locating and erasing multiple copies of that same song, or video.

Duplicate file remover is equipped to find copies of multiple types. It can find text, binary, music and also video or image files. It helps to remove the copies which may not be required.

Duplicate file remover has multiple advantages. It helps to identify & recover wasted disk space. It helps to reduce the time and media that is used for backups. Once you remove the unnecessary copies, you will also reduce the time used to perform virus scans.. To delete duplicate files from the system also means you are increasing free space on laptops and memory disks which comparatively have smaller hard disks and space created by deleting unneeded copies, comes in very handy.

This software also helps to remove duplicate files to eliminate synchronization problems. It runs and works much faster and swiftly as compared to other programs in that category besides being very safe and reliable.

For more resources about <a href="http://www.ashisoft.com/"rel="nofollow">Delete duplicate files or even about <a href="http://www.ashisoft.com/"rel="nofollow">duplicate file remover please review this pages.

Windows Vista Trouble Shooting Low Disk Space

Epson Printer Troubleshooting

Epson Printer Troubleshooting

Epson Printer Drivers Conflict - What Causes it and How to Fix It

The ease and comfort of printing from home is one of the accessibilities that computer and printer solutions are offering consumers and home users all over the world. This eliminates the need to hunt for either a printing shop or a LAN cafe to meet your printing needs. There are a whole host of printers from various manufacturers and brands out there that you can choose from. Just by looking at the progress of technology, you will be able to see that printing has really come a long way from the dot matrix to the inkjet or LaserJet solutions you can have at home. Epson is one such brand that has some of the best printers in the market and they can be used both in the home or in an office environment.

Their print quality is excellent and so is their support, and toner/ink is relatively cheap. Once you do purchase an Epson Printer however, you may come across a problem that many end users have experienced since the dawn of the computing age and this is driver conflicts. This happens when drivers share a system place with another application or hardware that is trying to execute the same language and same operation within the same location.

When this happens, Windows will choose which one over the other, or in some cases, both applications will fail. As programming language goes, there is no real fail safe for reassignment of ports or system space built within the structure of the drivers, so it is really up to you to solve the problem as it surfaces.

What you can do is to perform a clean install again, which means deleting the problematic drivers and reinstalling them. If that does not work, hop on over to the Epson website and match your printer model number and check whether they have an updated driver for their hardware. If they do, then you will need to download it because application conflicts are often caused by old outdated drivers. As new updates are released for Windows, and new software or hardware is introduced into the market, you need to have new drivers that can manage these new changes and work around the conflicts.

This is what the engineers normally do on a daily basis - making their products as compatible as they can, as with compatibility comes sustainability in the market. If that does not work, then you might have come across a unique problem. But in the world of the internet, no problem is too unique for someone else in another part of the world who might have experienced it before.

Check with the numerous tech forums out there and post your configurations for the tech gurus to see. Usually, someone else would have the same problem and a solution posted a while ago. However, it does have its fair share of problems... not to mention the constant threat of a corrupted registry.

Many errors occur from some of the most simple and stead-fast parts of the Windows Vista system - the registry. The registry was born from many years of development on the part of Microsoft. And although it's not perfect, Windows Vista does make significant improvements to it.

In lamen's terms, the registry is a place on your computer where all the settings are stored for the WHOLE computer. Everything you do on your Windows Vista PC is recorded and set in the registry. The more you do, the more things are changed/deleted/moved in your computer's registry.

After a while, when your Windows Vista PC has changed a lot of settings/records, it starts to make mistakes and actually corrupts some of the files. In fact, it can actually get so confused that it starts to take longer and longer for your computer to "read" the settings in the registry. This not only makes it go slow.... BUT (more importantly), it can actually lead to many errors in it as well.

Obviously, this is bad and needs to be corrected. Luckily, in most cases, registry errors are just the result of a misplaced/moved file. Files/settings/records in the registry are always being moved and deleted... even for the most basic of tasks like browsing the Internet. So after time, your Windows Vista computer could run into serious difficulty when trying to browse through its registry.

To fix this problem, there have been several easy-to-use programs/tools which have been created. These tools are extremely effective and you can see the best registry cleaner tool here.

Vista Stop Errors

Word 2007 Keyboard Shortcuts

Word 2007 Keyboard Shortcuts

The following are the 29 most commonly used Word 2007 shortcut keys that you can use. The ability to zoom like this can be a huge benefit for anyone who has trouble reading the text on the screen. The Zoom command is simple to use, and the benefits are obvious to anyone who spends their day squinting at their computer screen. It only takes a moment to learn how to Zoom, and will free you from some eyestrain.

But as always, there are a few more things to know when you use it.

When you start using Zoom yourself, you will quickly find that text and images in the body of a message, contact, etc. will zoom in and out, but the menus, toolbars, and the like don't change. Only the part of the item where you could enter large amounts of text and images is zoomable. So the body of a message, calendar entry, or task will zoom, and a contact's notes field. Nothing else changes when you zoom in or out. (But keep reading because there are things you can do to make column headers and the like easier to read)

Additional things worth knowing before you start to use Zoom:

* The item you want to zoom must be open in its own window. Zoom doesn't work in the Reading Pane.

* If for example, you want to zoom the body of a message, you point the mouse at a spot in the message body and click the mouse button. This selects the area and activates the Zoom command. If the area the cursor is in right now isn't zoomable (say the Subject line of a message), the Zoom menu option is dimmed.

* The Zoom command appears in the Other Actions menu for messages, and in the Zoom group of the Format Text tab of the Ribbon for other Outlook items.

Zoom is clearly the way to go when you want to adjust the size of the text in one of the zoomable areas. While you can't zoom things like column headings and menus, there is a way to modify these. just much more complicated and time consuming. So a good compromise that improves readability without too much work is to use the Zoom command wherever possible, and live with the small headings and so on.

If you want to know how to adjust menus and other Outlook interface elements, go to http://www.living-with-outlook.com/change-fonts.html.

If you want to know more about using Outlook 2007's Zoom command, visit http://www.living-with-outlook.com/zoom.html

Text Size Is Too Small In Outlook

Disable Internet Explorer In Windows Xp

Disable Internet Explorer In Windows Xp

Microsoft's Internet Explorer has been a top objective of assault for spyware merchants and additional annoying computer geeks. It is for this reason why many people have turned to alternative web browsers for their web navigation and viewing needs. In the event that you are operating another web browser and do not use Internet Explorer, it is argued that you should remove it altogether. It is, after all, a prospective safety danger, therefore, if you are no longer using it why not uninstall it from your system?

However, removing IE is not that straight forward. In truth, with following variants of Windows there is no acceptable method of taking it off entirely without endangering the Windows operating system itself. There are several methods available on the net instructing you in disabling Internet Explorer on a PC. Alternatively, you are able to totally disable the application using the internet settings which render the browser useless and unable to communicate with the outside world through your internet connection thereby preserving your PC system.

To disable internet explorer on a PC simply navigate to the Tools-Internet Options-Connections-LAN Settings. From here you can place a tick in the check box alongside the 'Use a Proxy Server for your LAN' and type in a bogus I.P. address. Any random numbers will do here such as '8.8.8.82 in the address box and a also input a '882 within the port box. Once completed simply press OK and your Internet Explorer connection has now been disabled on your computer without any risk to your system functionality.

If you are suffering from windows xp internet explorer problems and your internet explorer is not working properly then the above remedy may well be a good solution to your problem or alternatively if you now favour Mozilla Firefox this is a great and simple method of disabling the browser.

Webmaster Software Shop contains news and reviews around all aspects of the computer software by offering FREE advice, techniques and software reviews. My preferred method is sending the video files to a zip file, by following the methods described in my earlier post at:
"How To Save Excel File To Zip" That shows you how to zip the video files.

You will finally have ONE file only, a .zip file. You just attach it to the email - only that file.

Then the receiver will open the zip file, if he does not know how tell him to download a zip tool free from: http://www.izarc.org He needs to install the software, then just download the zip file - double click on it to open it, it will then be opened automatically using the zip tool.

Then click on the Extract button found at the top of the tool and click OK.

That's it.

So that's my favorite way.

However you can also heck upload the video to youtube and then send just a url in the email - the url to the video.

Or upload the video to a file sharing website and you send the url in the email just like you do with youtube - but for this to work you have to zip the video files as well - so first send files to zip - then upload the zip file to a file sharing too like: http://ifile.it (my recommendation) OR http://www.4shared.com

So you have more than one option if one does not work for you test out the other. Some email clients won't accept zip files, others do... so with Gmail it may work, but if you have hotmail for example it may not - so test all three methods.

Compressing Video Files In Email

Using Hierarchical Labels In Gmail

Using Hierarchical Labels In Gmail

Some folks wanted to know how to create tree like (hierarchical) labels in Gmail. Then answer is it's not possible. You can only create labels and they are automatically sorted in alphabetical mode.

You can also move the Labels box to the right side, by going to Settings > Labs and selecting Enable next to the "plugin" called: Right-side labels

Also there's another "plugin" there as well for labels called:
Hide Unread Counts

That will hide the labels making them invisible that contain no emails inside them.

Another "plugin" for labels is the: Custom Label Colors
This will make labels with different colors, you pick the colors you want. The description about this directly from Gmail is: "Lets you create your own combination of colors for labels. Instead of choosing one of the standard colors from the label dropdown menu, click on Add custom colors. Pick your combination of colors, hit Apply, and enjoy."

So enable the "plugins" you want to use and then you will see new options in gmail.

Another one is the: Go to label

Description from Gmail itself: "Enable keyboard shortcuts and hit 'g' then 'l' to display a popup for selecting a label to go to. Also works with Quick Links."

So there are many options to choose from for the Labels in your Gmail account. Of course more are being developed and are then added in the same Settings > Labs

You can also Suggest Google the feature by clicking at the bottom of that page - or go directly at:
http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-labs-suggest-a-labs-feature/topics

Who knows maybe they will add this feature sometime soon - after all they want to please us first and foremost.

Using Hierarchical Labels In Gmail

Firefox 3.0.5 Connection Interrupted

Firefox 3.0.5 Connection Interrupted

Not just firefox 3.0.5 version, or any other version of firefox, this error can appear on all sorts of web browser.

It's also know as the normal, most common error, the Page Load Error.

See below:

(click image to see it bigger)

Sometimes the error message is slightly different, has different words - but it's more or less like that always.

There's nothing you can do apart from clicking the Try Again button - do it after a few seconds because sometimes the problem lasts only few seconds.

So this happens with some websites you visit, not their fault, but it's a temporary error that's what I mean.

So just click the try again button after a few seconds the next time you see it, and the website you where going to visit should load properly.

If however you cannot view any website at all, you always get that or very similar message than there's something wrong with your Internet connection. The possibilities are endless, so contact your ISP - sometimes it can be their fault, they are doing maybe maintenance, or sometimes you just have to reset your modem. But if you don't know how to reset modem, it's better to contact your ISP like I said.

Firefox 3.0.5 Connection Interrupted

Gmail Invitation Code

Gmail Invitation Code

Someone with a Gmail account can send you an invitation to open up a Gmail account. So this fuss now ended I know, you no longer need an invitation to open up a Gmail account.

This was used by Google at first to make their email client look more interesting, curious, so it was only "by invitation" thing - you could only get an account if someone else invited you. That made their Gmail service very popular.

Instead of opening the doors for everyone - they made everyone crazy, everyone wanting an invite... this worked very well for them.

Today of course you can still send or receive invites from your Gmail account... You can send up to 100 invites. It's like a tell a friend service, that we've just added to our website and blog.

I have over 90 left so if you want an invitation to open Gmail even though you don't need one to have an account - post a comment. Let's have some "stupid" fun :)

Gmail Invitation Code

Better Alternative To Xp System Restore

Better Alternative To Xp System Restore

Not just XP but other versions of windows like vista too have the system restore feature - which I suggest you turn it on.

But another option for you, especially if you have lots of important files, documents etc on your computer; not just games :) then the option I suggest costs $5 a month, a bit less than that. It's Mozy from http://www.mozy.com

Now this is a backup tool - not a tool that can restore your computer to an earlier point and with doing so fixing some problems. This does not fix problems like Windows system restore - it backups files. So that's why leave system restore on if possible.

With mozy you get an online account and a downloadable software. The software allows you to backup your entire computer if you wish - or a couple files, or just one - the point is you can backup using this software. The backup is saved on the Mozy servers not on yours and you have unlimited storage capacity.

So the backup files are also saved not on your computer but on other servers - that's more safer.

So you want to restore a file, a folder or anything else you have backed up - then you have multiple options. My preferred option is using the Mozy hardrive. This is like your windows drive c:, you'll see a new icon in the My Computer folder...

In it you will see all the files you ever backed up - so you just navigate to the file or folder you want to restore from the backup and click restore.

Other options include ordering a backup on DVD (they will ship it to you), or opening the software and clicking on the Restore Files button - then searching for the files to restore.

So Mozy for less than $5 a month is a great backup tool. Has all the features you need.

Better Alternative To Xp System Restore

How To Wake Computer From Sleep Mode In Windows Vista

How To Wake Computer From Sleep Mode In Windows Vista

In sleep mode the computer is kind of turned off, with no sound, monitor is turned off... everything is like its off. The first time I send it sleeping I thought I clicked the turn off button by mistake.

That should remind you that to turn it on press the power button on your tower as if you're going to start the computer on.

So that's how to turn it back on. It's not by pressing a key, moving the mouse, etc those are used to get rid of the screensaver.

To send it to sleep press this button (located at Start menu):

(as marked by arrow)

Or of course by going to the Start > And click on the arrow like this:

Make use of sleep if you're going to leave the computer without any use for 30 or more minutes. This is a good vista feature - to save your computer power. Make use of it.

How To Wake Computer From Sleep Mode In Windows Vista
