Using Hierarchical Labels In Gmail
Some folks wanted to know how to create tree like (hierarchical) labels in Gmail. Then answer is it’s not possible. You can only create labels and they are automatically sorted in alphabetical mode.
You can also move the Labels box to the right side, by going to Settings > Labs and selecting Enable next to the “plugin” called: Right-side labels
Also there’s another “plugin” there as well for labels called:
Hide Unread Counts
That will hide the labels making them invisible that contain no emails inside them.
Another “plugin” for labels is the: Custom Label Colors
This will make labels with different colors, you pick the colors you want. The description about this directly from Gmail is: “Lets you create your own combination of colors for labels. Instead of choosing one of the standard colors from the label dropdown menu, click on Add custom colors. Pick your combination of colors, hit Apply, and enjoy.”
So enable the “plugins” you want to use and then you will see new options in gmail.
Another one is the: Go to label
Description from Gmail itself: “Enable keyboard shortcuts and hit ‘g’ then ‘l’ to display a popup for selecting a label to go to. Also works with Quick Links.”
So there are many options to choose from for the Labels in your Gmail account. Of course more are being developed and are then added in the same Settings > Labs
You can also Suggest Google the feature by clicking at the bottom of that page – or go directly at:

Who knows maybe they will add this feature sometime soon – after all they want to please us first and foremost.
