Is Spybot Bad
Spybot – Search & Destroy anti adware and spyware software is NOT bad. It’s just like the other free software out there.
What does it has like the others?
Just like I explained previously on this blog most free software do not have advanced real time protection.
So with Spybot here’s what you do: You download and install the software, then when you wish you scan your computer – it searches your computer for spyware, etc and if founds it destroys them. That’s basically it.
Now what it lacks: Real time protection.
NoAdware software and those that have real time protection don’t just allow you to scan your computer anytime you wish – then remove anything it finds… but it also protects your computer when you connect to the Internet. So when you are online it will BLOCK any spyware and adware (not ALL) that it can from infecting your computer. So it won’t just try to remove the spyware but it tries to block it.
It’s of course better to block the spyware before it can enter your computer – rather than just try to remove it afterwards. If you don’t scan too often by the time you try to remove it – it may have already done some damage to your computer – and damage here can be low performance, transmits data to the owner of the spyware, etc etc. So maximum and advanced protection is required.
So real time protection is the feature they lack – and it’s the most important feature.
