Compressing Video Files In Email
You have more than one option if you have a video and wish to send it to a friend. My preferred method is sending the video files to a zip file, by following the methods described in my earlier post at:
“How To Save Excel File To Zip” That shows you how to zip the video files.
You will finally have ONE file only, a .zip file. You just attach it to the email – only that file.
Then the receiver will open the zip file, if he does not know how tell him to download a zip tool free from: http://www.izarc.org He needs to install the software, then just download the zip file – double click on it to open it, it will then be opened automatically using the zip tool.
Then click on the Extract button found at the top of the tool and click OK.
That’s it.
So that’s my favorite way.
However you can also heck upload the video to youtube and then send just a url in the email – the url to the video.
Or upload the video to a file sharing website and you send the url in the email just like you do with youtube – but for this to work you have to zip the video files as well – so first send files to zip – then upload the zip file to a file sharing too like: http://ifile.it (my recommendation) OR http://www.4shared.com
So you have more than one option if one does not work for you test out the other. Some email clients won’t accept zip files, others do… so with Gmail it may work, but if you have hotmail for example it may not – so test all three methods.
