Breaking News: Internet Explorer Leaking!

This was even on the news, if you watched yesterday news channel, at least in my country on this small Island we GOT WARNED.

Ok, the problem is a "leakage" in Internet Explorer that bad guys take advantage of and are able to steal your passwords.

How to protect your computer against this problem?

If you have windows automatic updates turned on your computer if connected to the Internet should have downloaded this update (that solves the problem). Make sure you install the update now... most often by restarting your computer, look out for messages in your taskbar (located near the clock)... for instructions what to do. Usually that is restart computer, or in start menu you see option to turn off computer and install updates.

That's always the same to install updates.

If you have not turned automatic updates then go to http://update.microsoft.com and download latest updates...

This is another reason why you want Automatic Updates turned ON. First the update is done faster and painlessly, you don't have to go each time to Microsoft website.

Turning ON automatic updates is done from Start>Control Panel and depending on what version of Windows you have (vista, 2000, etc) the link to open Automatic Updates popup may be slightly different.

In Vista for example you click on Security, then click on Turn Windows Firewall On or Off link.

Consult help files for exact instructions to turn on automatic updates.

Do NOT visit Internet Explorer if you can until you download and install the update. If you have Mozilla Firefox, use that for the time being. Downloading update and installing it is very fast...

Hi,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be very good.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘NoAdware Blog’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

Cheers,
Ray
