Help Blue/Yellow Screen Spyware Warning In Xp Pro

This is a very similar incident to the one Stephan asked me - which I created a post for at: Computer Infected Popup Message Annoyed! The problem he had was similar and even the solution is similar - but he had taskbar warning messages...

Like I said numerous times on this blog, sometimes it is a fake warning message - created by a trojan or spyware that you may already have on your computer.

These can also be generated by a fake software you recently installed. Some fake anti virus software maybe... so remember and uninstall any spyware, adware or virus related software - that you are 100% not sure they are genuine.

From control panel (Start>Programs>Control Panel), click on uninstall next to the software name. Go to your program files folder as well where the software was installed and delete the folder too after you uninstall the software.

That is step one... so you actually remove the fake software.

Or it is a spyware or trojan, in which case you have to remove the spyware or trojan for the messages to stop appearing.

Just like I said to Stephan, you should make sure your security is up to date. There are numerous posts on my blog that help you understand what software you need.

#1: Anti adware and spyware software.
#2: Anti virus software.
#3: Firewall software (If you have vista using vista firewall is enough).

Download each one, scan with each one... and make sure you do not have multiple software (like two or more antivirus software).

The first thing I suggest you do though is backup your files... whatever you can backup on CD or floppy - if you have important data. You never know, maybe you will need to format your computer (means like re installing windows)... and in that case all data have to be erased.

For $5 a month you can store unlimited files and everything on your computer at mozy.com Highly recommended. If you have few files, backup on CD or on Floppy disk. Buy some blank CD's and move files to the blank CD's.

Here are things you can backup:

>> Your web browser bookmarks/favorites.
>> Documents
>> Pictures
>> Entire folders (note that this may take a lot of space - and floppy is weakest for space).
>> Games

Anyway just check what you consider important data you use often. The backup of computer data should be done regularly not when sh*t happens. :)

But I bet it's a spyware or trojan, so using anti adware and spyware software, plus anti virus software (scanning with each one) is what you should do. Do not scan with both software at once!

My recommendations are NoAdware and Avast software... Both have real time protection - a feature many don't know how useful it is!
