NEW Paypal Fraud!

Five people with PayPal Debit Cards have reported charges from the same two merchants. These are:

Merchant: TM NETGAMES SAN FRANCISCO CA
Purchase Date: Sep. 17, 2007
Authorized Amount: -$16.94 USD
Authorization Date: Sep. 17, 2007
Time: 07:27:31 PDT
Status: Pending

AND

Merchant: MTC TOUCH Beirut LB
Purchase Date: Sep. 17, 2007
Authorized Amount: -$41.69 USD
Authorization Date: Sep. 17, 2007
Time: 07:33:23 PDT
Status: Pending

The common thing is that a PayPal Debit Card was used.

Check your paypal account and see if you have any charges from those two merchants. If you are a victim report it to paypal instantly and remove your Debit Card from your paypal account. Then add a new one.

How to report fraud/unauthorized charges to paypal?

Step 1:

1) Login to your paypal account.

2) Once you login at the bottom (or close the the bottom of the page) click on: All account activity, next to Account history.

3) Find the charge you got (that is fraud) and click on Details next to it.

NOTE: You can use the search function if you don’t see the specific charge listed.

4) Once you click on Details, you will see at the top something like this:
Payment Sent (Unique Transaction ID #3LH48299KL956465B)

You need to note somehwere down the transaction id number which in our case is: 3LH48299KL956465B (You can copy the number and paste it in a notepad file. Then proceed to Step 2 below.

If you have more than one fraud charges, do the same for each one – take note of the transaction id’s of each charge.

Step 2:

1) Click My Account at the top menu.

2) At the top menu then click on Resolution Center.

3) Click Report a Problem.

4) Then click on Report a transaction problem.

5) Then choose the second option: Unauthorized transaction: I did not authorize a recent transaction and click Continue.

6)You will then see three empty boxes somewhere down on the page. Enter in the first box your transaction id number (which you copied ealier into a notepad file). Note: Just the number like for example: 3LH48299KL956465B
Then click Continue.

7) Then fill in the submission form. It asks you:
Please indicate which unauthorized changes, if any, were made to your account. Choose any that apply.

There is also these two questions:
Have you changed your password since this happened? Yes or No.
Have you changed your security questions since this happened? Yes or No.

And finally it asks you: Please include any additional relevant information regarding this unauthorized use of your PayPal account in the box below. (Maximum 2,000 characters)

In that box enter down as much information as you know about the transaction.

Good Luck

I got hit with this $41.69 MTC Touch charge but do not have a PayPal card. My PayPal account is not linked to the card that was charged.

Based on other forums, the link seems to be a Registerfly.com account (now managed by GoDaddy).

  2. Karl Sultana says:

Ok, thanks for sharing. It is from Paypal for sure but could be that it is also from other sources…

my credit card was chargrd with $19.99 from tm netgames. i don’t even have a paypal debit card. i don’t understand how this can happen.

  4. Karl Sultana says:

Contact paypal, if the credit card was on paypal – and/or the bank you got your credit card from…

I suggest you remove it also from paypal – at least temporary until paypal find out what happened and fixes the problems…

i too had 41.69 on mtc touch as well as 18.94 on netgames– on same exact day
this is highly likely to be registerfly — as it is fairly well known that they were hacked

Has anyone had any charges from Floraqueen Barcelona? an online florist in Spain. We’ve had two. The first for over 200.00 and the latest for 292.00 plus those come with a foreign transaction fee. We also just got 2 charges from TM Netgames for 19.99 each on a Direct Merchants Bank card. (HSB card services)

I just got one from google checkout at 353.21 and 23.94 for TM netgames in SF, CA.

I had a charge by TM Netgames for software that will not work but I also had a charge from Encore Software myord.commn for a download that doesn’t work and they will not refund. Their download took about 20 hours and I have satellite connection. I tried it twice and they still will not give me a refund.

  9. Karl Sultana says:

    Hi Ssarajon,

If you bought something did you check before buying if they have a refund policy. Like 56-day money back guarantee.

If they do they must refund you.

If you paid with paypal, contact paypal. Tell them!

    Hi All,

My name is Christa and I am a mediator of Consumer Fraud at the DA’s office in San Francisco. We have received complaints regarding unauthorized charges from TM Netgames and are currently beginning an investigation of the charges. After doing a little research, I can see that several others are victims to these fraudulent charges as well. In order to best investigate and research these suspicious charges we need to compile as much information as possible. If you are interested in helping us investigate this case and providing us with information of your situation, please contact us at consumer_mediation@sfgov.org or call us at (415) 551-9595. Thanks.

i also was charged twice by mcafee security for $25.18 and 25.24. and i was charged by TM netgames for $23.94 and Travian games for $19.99. it was on my debit MC…so i can’t say it’s PayPal fraud. i do have a PayPal account, but never had a problem with it. i called my bank and put in a claim…should get the money back within a week. they will also cancel and replace my card. someone above mentioned registerfly was hacked. i did use registerfly a couple years ago (before i found out how horrible a company they are). so that could be how they got my account number. good luck everyone!

I bought and downloaded a game (F22 lighning 3) for 19.99 on April 6th. My antivirus kept finding a downloader on my system but I couldn’t track it down nor remove it. I just reinstalled my OS and Norton found it to be the f22l3 installer and deleted it. Now I can’t find the website that I downloaded this game from. The charge was from TM Netgames. I’m going to call my bank tomorrow and report it.

  15. Anonymous says:

Well, TM GAMING is still up to their illegal tricks…SF must be waiting to make a case?

My guess is they are hacking into PAYPAL and acquiring credit card numbers and then posting against them!!!

I’ve never purchased a game online and I was charged over $53 from tm netgames immediately after I made a paypal purchase. Any advice?

  17. Karl Sultana says:
