Gateway Keyboard Shortcut Key

Gateway Keyboard Shortcut Key

BOOKMARK this page.

It does not have to be Gateway - these shortcuts work on almost any type of keyboard. These are the shortcuts I use:

Fast COPY
Hold CTRL key and then press the C letter.

Fast PASTE
Hold CTRL key and then press the V letter.

Fast DELETE
Click once on the item you want to delete - to highlight it. Then press DELETE button on keyboard

OPEN Task Manager
Note: Task Manager allows you to fast close any program, find hidden programs running on your computer that you can close, turn off computer, put computer on standby, switch to another computer user and more... (Also check out my earlier post: How to boost the speed of any program by 200% using Task Manager)

Hold CTRL, WINDOWS and DELETE button all together and click them all three at once for several times - until Task Manager window opens. (After couple seconds)

Note: The WINDOWS button has the windows logo painted on it.

Close A Window
Hold ALT and press F4

Open Start Menu
Press the WINDOWS button once.

Note: The WINDOWS button has the windows logo painted on it.

Using Keyword Letters
You can use the letters to open the Start Menu Items fast. For example to open the Run you can Press the WINDOWS button then press the R key.

Open Settings Menu and then Control Panel:
Press the WINDOWS button, then press S, then press C.

You can also use the arrow keys to move through any menus. Menus are like the Start Menu - where there are a list of items under or on top of each other - and also sideways.

Open Help Menu
Press the F1 button. - You can press this button in any program that has a help file. So if you are using Internet Explorer and it has a help file - you can simple press the F1 button. Same thing happens if you are using any other program that has a help file. Just press F1

Zoom To Full Screen
Press F11

Open New Window in Mozilla and possible it will work also in other browsers
Hold CTRL button and Press W.

Open New Tab in Mozilla and possible it will work also in other browsers
Hold CTRL button and Press T.

Note: To see shortcuts that browsers have - click on the file menu or any other menu, and you see the keyboard shortcuts written down like this: CTRL+T CTRL+W

Undo Changes
Hold CTRL and press Z

Open Files
Hold CTRL and press O

Save Files
Hold CTRL and press S

Print
Hold CTRL and press P

Open windows folder without using double clicking of mouse
Simple press enter instead of double click.

Rename a folder or file or anything that can be renamed
Press F2 after selecting the file by clicking once on it.

If you are writing something

Hold CTRL and press B: Bold
Hold CTRL and press U: Underline
Hold CTRL and press I: Italic

Switch between open programs
Hold ALT and Press Tab at the same time.

Delete item instantly without placing it in recycle bin (this item that you delete cannot be restored)
Click once on the item to highlight it and press SHIFT and DELETE buttons.

Use the Menu Bars of programs

Press F10 and then use your arrow keys. If you are in any program this shortcut will work. So you can easily use the File, Edit and other menus without the need of the mouse.

Open a Drop down menu
Press ALT keep holding it and then press D

Refresh a page - like a webpage
Press F5 - This will reload the current page.

Select ALL items in a folder - or any other place
Press CTRL, hold it and press A.

Go back to previous folder - when you are navigating windows folders
Press Backspace

Those are all shortcuts I use. Just test them so you start memorizing them - they are all easy to do once you get it! :)

Almost all these shortcuts can be used in any program. If you are using NOTEPAD for instance you can use the Save, Print, Open, Undo, Copy shortcuts. Even if you are using Mozilla Firefox same shortcuts can be used.
