Comodo Firewall Pro Versus Windows Firewall

Comodo Firewall Pro Versus Windows Firewall

I have Windows XP and at first I relied on Windows Firewall only. However I found out that it cannot be compared with a real firewall software.

Firewall software such us Comodo (which I currently use) have more features and more protection shields. There is no doubt that you should have a firewall software. Windows Firewall is not enough – it is too basic and does not protect against all threats as much as Comodo does.

If you install Comodo however turn OFF Windows Firewall and also uninstall any other firewall you are using. Just use ONE firewall software otherwise they create confusions. Comodo is totally free so there is no excuse why you cannot download it :)

Windows Firewall was created as part of Microsoft Windows. It is like an add on for extra security. However Comodo is a firewall software not some extra add on. It is more advanced than Windows Firewall.

1. Comodo can block danger that Windows Firewall does not recognize.

2. It can scan for known infections (not adware or spyware) unlike Windows Firewall.

3. It warns you of dangers – a feature Windows Firewall does not have.

4. You get free updates of Comodo more often than Windows Firewall. It means Comodo is more up to data against latest security threats that a firewall should block.

5. Multiple protection shields not minimum like Windows Firewall.

So as you can see this is like comparing a newbie with an expert.

These firewall software protect certain data that are invisible to us. Comodo does protect more of this data then Windows Firewall. Making use of just Windows Firewall is therefore a risk cause you have minimum protection.

Windows Firewall Features:

1) Blocks certain software you install from working. You can also add or remove programs to the list of blocked software.

2) Normal but minimum firewall protection.

Comodo Features:

1) Add trusted or banned applications.

2) Add/Remove/Modify a zone.

3) Add new trusted network.

4) Scan for known applications.

5) Application Monitor.

6) Component Monitor.

7) Network Monitor.

8) Application Behavior Analysis.

9) Advanced Attack Detection and Prevention.

10) Miscellaneous options – for example: Automatically check for Comodo certified applications updates.

11) Shows you what is going on your computer. All the critical objects that were found and more…

Comodo automatically adjust all the settings for you – so you do not need to know what all the features and options mean. Of course there are the help files within software as well.

Comodo WINS the battle :) Windows Firewall K.O

I too have Windows XP and had relied on that particular firewall for protection till I read comments such as yours about it’s less than perfect security compared to a firewall such as Comodo. I decided to switch to Comodo. I carefully followed all instructions… turning off my Windows firewall before running Comodo after downloading it. All this program (Comodo) did was to completely mess up my computer. I couldn’t get on line. I became so utterly frustrated with Comodo I (safely) deleted this piece of junk. I still couldn’t connect even after using system restore several times. It took me hours and hours of going through my entire computer’s system. Comodo had changed my settings and I had to reconfigure it. Why would it do this? I believe it’s a vicious nasty program. My advice is… If you don’t want to have computer problems, NEVER DOWNLOAD COMODO!!!!!!

    Hi,

Comodo is a top notch firewall software. But if you never installed a firewall software you should have read the help files at least. So you know how to use the software.

At first Comodo needs to know what programs are SAFE on your computer. So after the first time you install it and open programs like Internet Explorer, messenger or anything that connects to the Internet – it will ask whether or not it is safe.

A box will appear – telling you: do you want to allow or block Internet explorer. Then you click on Allow.

I feel your anger! I did uninstall it and re install it also 1-2 times cause I was new to the software as well.

You could not get online because probably you did not give COMODO permission to access the Internet – you need to click ALLOW.

COMODO does not change anything on your system. You mess if you change COMODO settings without knowing what you are doing. Read HELP FILES of COMODO.

    Hi,

Ok, if you have vista also you do not need COMODO. Vista firewall is enough. XP firewall is not enough though.

But the new vista has a much better and enough powerful of a firewall software.

Yes, COMODO has some advanced features which can be a “mess” but only if you do not learn how to use it properly. That is not easy sometimes but they have a forum as well as support:

    forums.comodo.com/

    (And obviously the help files)

It will be great if you quickly run through help files and then post any thing else in the forum.
