Save Electricity And The Environment By Sending Your Monitor To Sleep
If you have Windows XP you can save electricity and also the environment when you are not using your computer. Does not mean you surround your computer with plants or some tiny insects that will then grow BIG and save the EARTH. Far from it...
There is an option that allows your computer to automatically go to sleep when you are not using it. Say you went for a break of 10 - 20 minutes. Your monitor will automatically turn off and that saves you electricity.
Then you simple move the mouse or press a key and it automatically turns ON again. (As long as you know how to press a key and move the mouse your computer will turn ON - Do not panic. RELAX)
Steps:
- Right click on Desktop (where there is My Computer icon, Recycle Bin icon - that is your Desktop)
- Click Properties
- Click Screen Saver Tab - on top of the new window that opens
- Click Power
- Click on Turn off monitor list
Then select a time - if you select 10 minutes, your computer will automatically go to sleep (turn off) after 10 minutes. Setting it 5 minutes is a realistic one. I have it set 1 minute but I am on the computer for long hours. Rarely have breaks :) I have a Kit Kat once in a while.
Click ok twice.
