Portable Form Fillers / Password Managers
Portable Form Fillers / Password Managers
I personally use Password Safe as a Password Manager. It is awesome, no doubt about it. It stores an unlimited number of passwords safe and secure. You then create a master password to access all passwords. Without that no one will be able to read the passwords.
You can backup your entire list of passwords on to a floppy disk, CD or simple on your hard drive. When you want to add a new password you:
1) Can add the username and password. The url of the page where you use the password. You have also free space where you can add notes - like notepad. You then save everything.
Clicking a button will take you to the page as well - and fills in the username and password forms for you automatically. Password Safe shows as an icon near the clock. You can click it anytime to add new passwords or check your current passwords. (Always after using master password to open it -- so no adware/spyware/trojan can access your passwords)
Storing passwords in notepad is not a good idea. Oh sorry, I had to say - It is BAD! But really really bad. A virus from the Internet can infect your computer, and it can travel trough your hardrive, notepad files, open them and send back information to the virus creator.
So your passwords can easily be stolen if they are on notepad. OR if they are not properly secured by a password.
This is a free software.
However if your major aim is to fill forms easily then another tools suits you more. Roboform. That is installed in your browser and fills in forms automatically for you. There is a free version and a paid version for you too. Check site for features. Compare both tools to see which one is best for your needs.
Both are top rated!
Roboform is very popular and it is top rated to fill forms. Password Safe is very useful to store passwords - it is the perfect password manager.
