Quite easy answer.

First of all you need Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. You get that from adobe.com.

Then you need at least one pdf file. Right click on the pdf file. Select Open With, then Select Choose Program.

A small window will open. From the list of programs find Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 and click once on it. Then place a tick mark on the box that says:
Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. Finally hit OK.

Now, whenever you open any pdf file, it will always open using Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. You simple double click on the pdf file to open it next time. You only do the steps above ONCE.

Anytime you do not want pdf files to open with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 do the following:

1) Right click on a pdf file. Select Open With, then Select Choose Program.
2) At the bottom remove the tick mark next to:
Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

You can also force other programs to open using a particular program by using the same methods. There is no need of anything special to make this method work. Just the ability to follow the instructions above which are quite easy.
