Almightysearch Trojan

Removal instructions! These are easy instructions - relax, you do not have to do all the steps to remove the trojan. With just step one this can be removed.

Now different users experience different types of problems with this trojan. Your IE homepage may change to almightysearch.com all the time for example.


STEP ONE:

Note: I take no risks if you do not follow the instructions precisely and harm your computer. Take extra caution. Do a registry backup before manually deleting any files.

Delete this registry entry from Regedit if you can find it. I posted another post to show you exactly how easy it is to delete a registry entry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks

STEP TWO:

1) Click Start, Click Run, Type in Regedit and Hit OK.

You need to find the registry entry below:

If you do not know how refer to my article above.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Once you are at the folder named Main check on the right hand side to see if there is a file named Search Bar

If there is no file with that name right click on the folder named Main, select New, then click on String Value. A new file on the right hand side will appear. Rename that file Search Bar

Now right click on Search Bar and select Modify. In the Value Data: box type in "http://www.msn.com" (Include also the " marks) You can put Google, Yahoo or whatever webpage you want. If there is something already replace it with the new one.

Now exit Regedit. You may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

STEP THREE:

If you STILL see Almightysearch in your IE or browser as your homepage or a toolbar then:

1) Click Start
2) Click Control Panel
3) Double click Add/Remove Programs
4) Search in the list after it loads for the name Almightysearch
5) Click Remove or Uninstall.

STEP FOUR:

1) Click Start, then Search. Search for files and folders. Now in the Look In: box select My Computer. Then search for Almightysearch

Delete folders that are named Almightysearch or files that are named Almightysearch

STEP FIVE:

Websites YOU should NOT visit:

www.almightysearch.com

I suggest you add it to your BLOCK LIST.
In Mozilla Firefox do this:

Click on Tools, then Options. Then a popup opens, Click on the Content Tab, Click on the Second Exceptions buttons and then put the domain www.almightysearch.com in the box - and hit BLOCK.

So in case you visit the site images will be blocked. Images may also contain critical objects. But keep that in mind - do not visit www.almightysearch.com potentially dangerous website.

In Internet Explorer do this:

Click on Tools, then Internet Options. Now a popup opens. Click on the Privacy Tab, then Click on Sites. Now put the url www.almightysearch.com in the box and click BLOCK. Then hit OK twice.

Note: Depending on the anti adware/spyware you use or antivirus software - you may have an option that allows you to add sites to the block list. Please check to see if your software have that option or contact their support to see if you can add sites to BLOCK.

You add the site to the block list, so that your anti virus software (or anti adware/spyware) will warn you it is dangerous and also block it from opening it.

STEP SIX:

Now you can (if you did not do so already) scan with an anti adware/spyware software and an anti virus software to see if it finds this trojan - and remove it.
