The following instructions will help in the removal of Adware.Director which NoAdware software is able to automatically remove - since this type of adware is in the NoAdware research center.
1. Update the definitions.
Open the NoAdware software and check for any new updates.
2. Run a full system scan.
Once the software finished check the results, and locate Adware.Director. If the software cannot remove this type of adware you need to manually delete it.
To do this check out the location of Adware.Director by taking a look at the "location column" . Then use Windows Explorer to locate and delete the file. An example of a location is:
ProgramFiles/Download/Adware.Director
To located that file:
Click Start, then Click Run, type in C:/program files/download/
Locate and Delete also these folders:
Click start and type in the first part which is either:
C:\Program Files OR
C:\Program Files\Common Files
A folder will open - find the other parts in that folder and delete them.
C:\Program Files\WebHost\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Download
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InetGet
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows
Delete the files:
id.id
To locate the file click Start, then click Run and type in:
C:\Windows\TEMP ( if you have Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\WINNT\Temp ( if you have Windows NT/2000).
Then delete id.id file.
There is also another file with exact name called id.id which must be deleted too. You find this at: C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]
Change the word [CURRENT USER] with your username or type in Default User if you do not know your username. Then click Start, click Run and type in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]
After the files are deleted, restart the computer and proceed with the next section.
Final Step
Delete the value from the registry
It is strongly recommends that you back up the registry before making any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. The following articles provide instructions from Microsoft to be able to backup the entire registry (recommended)
You may need Internet Explorer 7 or earlier versions to be able to read these instructions well. On Mozilla Firefox browser you won't be able to read everything.
